I got a free washing machine once. I found it sitting on the curb on my way home from work. I knocked on the door at the house there and asked if I could take it. "PLEASE DO!" they said. All I had to do was remove the sock from the water pump. After that it seemed to be cured of sock eating. It stayed a horrid avocado green color, though.
